Grape variety: 100% Vermentino

Description: Vermentino expresses itself in purity and gives life to the "Fiammetta" Bianco IGT from Podere Marella. Dry, linear, pale yellow with greenish hues in colour. On the nose Fiammetta reveals aromas of pear, verbena leaf, grapefruit and white pepper. Cheerful and delicate in the mouth with a broad finish. A white wine perfect as an aperitif or with salads, chicken, seafood and fish.
Note: Fiammetta is the first name of the Founder and Matriarch of Podere Marella winery, Fiammetta Inga. One of Italy’s first known female winemakers and one of Italy’s longest standing organic wineries. Fiammetta means ‘little flame or little fiery one’ and apparently the name suited. The two Fiammetta wines Vermentino and Rosso are the creations of her son Cosimo Bisiach and their longtime friend and consultant winemaker, the famed Jean Natoli, created in dedication to Fiammetta. One of Fiammetta’s last legible signatures graces the labels of these two superbly crafted wines.
About the Producer: Founded by a woman, Fiammetta Inga in 1974, a pioneer in Italian organic wine making, Podere Marella is located on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, in the Lake Trasimeno area where the next generation continues Fiammetta’s legacy ..and created one of their own working alongside long time friend famed French winemaker Jean Natoli.
