Benazzoli Tecla Chiaretto DOC 2022 (Case of 12)
Light bodied rosé
Case of 12
Grape varieties: 80% Corvina, 20% Rondinella
Review/Rating: Michael Godel, WineAlign “True delight in Rosato, a.k.a Chiaretto di Bardolino based on corvina with some rounding by rondinella. Hard to beat the dried and candied roses, morainic hills salinity and lakeside airiness of this blush. Simply breathtaking for the appellation and the region. Top drop for Chiaretto without argument. Dare you to disagree. Drink 2023-2026. (91 Points)
From the special Sogni Di Donna (Dreams of a Woman) line of wines by the Benazzoli sisters.
“Tecla” is a young girl exploring the world. She is fresh and explosive. She adores evenings especially those that are chaotic and buzzing. She loves life, fun and to be loved.
Description: A brilliant salmon-pink in colour, the nose is a delightful flight of crushed rose petals, fruity scents of wild strawberries and raspberries, and delicates plashes of citrus. On the palate it is taut and fresh, restrained red berry flavours with a hint of blood orange and rosehip, silky yet clean and crisp with a hint of pepper and a nice acidity that lift the finish. Tecla is a versatile wine that knows how to elegantly accompany simple dishes, such as light pasta dishes with tomato or cream,as well as more elaborate dishes like pan fried scallop with herbs and a hint of truffle. It is also lovely with charcuterie and mild cheeses. It is the ultimate date and picnic wine.
About the Producer: Located in the Moraine Hills of Lake Garda, Benazzoli is the story of four generations of dedication and passion. Their wines are true expressions of their terroir and the fourth generation makers, Claudia Benazzoli (Oenologist) and Giulia Benazzoli (Viticulturalist).
Although much of the terminology surrounding wine and wine making is masculine, the Benazzoli sisters assert that sprinkled throughout are fundamental words of the feminine, for example Uva, which is the word for grape in Italian.
They do not describe their wines as made for women, but made by women (for everyone); strong and sometimes delicate, sensual, and passionate. The Benazzoli sisters are not only the first women at the helm of the winery, they are also the first generation to bottle their wines under their own name. In other words, in touch with the process from the soil and vines and cellar, to the branding and packaging and sales and marketing.
